Hi, I'm an Associate Professor in the Mathematics Department at the University of San Diego. This semester I am teaching

  • Discrete Math (Math 262) (3 sections)
  • Math Problem Solving Seminar (Math 395)
  • Independent Study: Computational Algebraic Geometry
For more information about previous courses (including course packets and teaching materials) please see my teaching page. If you would like me to write a letter of recommendation for you, click here recommendation page.

Before coming to USD, I completed postdocs at the University of Utah and the University of Edinburgh after completing my Ph.D. at the University of California at Berkeley with David Eisenbud. For more information, take a look at my CV.

My research interests focus on the study of symmetry and complexity in commutative algebra and algebraic geometry. See my research page for more information including links to my publications.

I am active on social media (Tiktok and Youtube) where I try to create mathematical content at all levels. Please contact me via email aboocher@sandiego.edu or visit my office in 161 Saints Hall.
